Our society often frames movies as a form of escapism, or as flights of fantasy. Something to take us away from our everyday lives. Our everyday worries and desires. But the truest purpose of movies bursts forth from the storytelling traditions that date back to early human life around the communal fire. Movies can be a technical spectacle to marvel at, yes… but the truly great ones, the ones that transcend the marketplace with a humanistic touch, act as mirrors of our soulful selves.

After experiencing such movies, we see life with greater clarity, depth, nuance and gratitude. For what are movies but collected moments of change. And with change, with gratitude and with clarity, there is the opportunity to Heal & Grow.

This summer’s free movie club was such an invigorating and soulful experience that folks have asked to keep it up through the fall and winter.

Beginning October 6th, we will have viewings in-person at Simplicity Farm every first Sunday of the month at 7pm, or you may view on your own. 

Then, on the first Thursday of the month we will meet at 7pm via Zoom for a deep discussion on how each film explores Healing & Growth.
